Sometimes, life gives you a choice = accept the lot which is given to you, or stand up for who you are and what you believe in. Calvin chose the latter On the edge of death, bleeding out on the side of a dirt road, a vision came to him. A terrifying vision of the Earth sundered and Joao, the love of his life, turning to ash in the vortex of a blazing inferno. Then Calvin made another choice. He reached out to the darkness and pulled it within him. He would not die, not today. The world needed him - Joao needed him.
Loss of Health
You find Calvin's things, but of Calvin himself, if what is truly what you are looking at, little remains. Gain all of his possessions. As you back away from the grisly scene, you hear whispers in your mind claiming to be Calvin, and that you need only allow him inside to help you. You may gain a Corruption Condition. l f you gain the Condition, you do indeed feel coursing power flow through you - but it is not Calvin; retreat Doom by 2. Whether you gain the Condition or not, discard his Investigator token.
Loss of Sanity
You meet with Calvin, as he claim to have things for you, but he maintains his distance, standing within the shadows, face shrouded by darkness. Gain all of his possessions. You question his motives but he seems reluctant to speak (). If you pass, he tells you that he can no longer be trusted and to stay away from him at an costs; retreat Doom by 1. If you fail, he remains silent, but steps forth and you can see his eyes are ablaze with a sickly green light. Whether you pass or not, discard his Investigator token.
Calvin's stats, except for his Will, are well balanced so he can adapt to many different situations. His Corruption can cause a problem, so partnering with Father Mateo can be helpful, since he can easily remove it by transferring a Boon. Being able to trade health with anyone can help heal fighters like Mark Harrigan or Lily Chen, or he can serve as a fighter, siphoning health and sanity as needed from investigators who are rooted in place and can rest each turn (e.g., an Influence character parked in a useful city).
Calvin Wright was a special investigator introduced in a scenario for Arkham Horror. Notably, he does not have a story in the Investigators of Arkham Horror companion book.
