Bio

Born with a silver spoon in his mouth, Preston was doted upon by his parents, and by all account should have lived a prosperous life free of worry and hardship. When his father died, he inherited an unimaginable fortune, but there are some things money can't buy. Downtrodden and depressed, Preston wasted money on gambling and women, until one night a seance performed by one of his girls brought him into contact with the spirit of his father - and shed a disturbing light on the source of the family income.

Defeated Encounters

Loss of Health

Preston speaks to you in the hospital through his many layers of bandages and slings, and you learn how he came by such an unlucky fate. Retreat Doom by 1. Bitter and unhappy, he complains on his misfortune, but you try to convince him that there is still good to be done in the world (Influence). If you pass, he relents, and founds a charity in his family's name; gain all of his possessions. If you fail, he resolves to left the world fix itself; discard all of his possessions. Whether you pass or not, discard his Investigator token.

Loss of Sanity

You find Preston scrounging for change in the gutters of à filthy alleyway. He embraces you enthusiastically and tells you of his travels. Retreat Doom by 1. You learn that he still has control of his fortune, but believe it to be cursed and refuses to touch it (Influence). If you pass, you convince him to lend you a portion of his wealth; gain all of his possessions. If you fail, he seems utterly committed to his impoverished way of life; discard all of his possessions. Whether you pass or not, discard his Investigator token.

Team Role

With his unmatched Influence and starting asset, Preston is all about gaining Assets to assist himself and the team. His low Will will be a hindrance in fighting Monsters, but finding a way to compensate for that can also make him decent at combat provided he can obtain a weapon.
